Self Consumption Storage Hub 1 available
Solar energy storage has become a hot topic. Victron Energy has taken a new step in this regard with the creation of the Storage Hub 1 for Self Consumption systems.
As soon as the batteries are filling up, charge controllers (DC) restrict their capacity to prevent overcharging. This means that some of the generated power is lost. In off-grid systems, power-consuming devices such as a pump or a boiler are used in such cases. In on-grid situations, where power can be fed back into the grid, it is more efficient to continue to generate power with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in order to backfeed it into the grid through the Multi.
That is exactly what the Hub-1 system does: as soon as the batteries fill up, the MPPT Solar Charger continues to operate at the Maximum Power Point to push as much power as possible on the DC bus.
The Multi is in constant communication with the Solar Charger and will backfeed excess power into the grid.
