Functional maintenance for safety lighting
The safety lighting circuit is regarded as a vital circuit for which functional maintenance applies.
In the past, when it came to the installation of safety lighting one usually opted to connect these devices to a central battery.
However, the GREI (General Regulations on Electrical Installations (Belgium)) now requires that the cables of such safety installations be established either redundantly, or non-redundant - but then using FR2 cables.
With an integrated safety source there are no extra requirements for the cables.
So as not to have to pull any new or extra cables in an existing installation, replacement of the existing lighting by safety lighting with an integrated battery is a simpler solution.
