ATEX Guidelines
The "ATEX Guidelines" are not to be confused with the "ATEX Directive" 94/9/EC.
The Guidelines are intended to assist users when reading, interpreting and implementing Directive 94/9/EC.
Contrary to Directive 94/9/EC, the Guidelines are not legally binding.
They are created by the "EC Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry" in cooperation with the member states, industry, standardisation and Notified Bodies for the stakeholders, which are all parties directly or indirectly involved.
An update to the fourth edition was published in December 2013. You can download the update here.
A new ATEX Directive is expected in the course of this year. As soon as it is available, a new edition of the Guidelines will be published as well. We will certainly keep you up to date in this regard.
