12VAC portable ATEX LED work light

Working in conductive, enclosed areas with the risk of explosion can be dangerous. In addition to an increased risk of electrocution, the presence of hydrocarbons constitutes a real risk of fire and/or explosion.

Therefore, the materials used must comply with specific requirements. These mainly relate to temporary work illumination in tanks, drums and towers. This illumination enables safe access to these tanks, drums and towers for inspections and cleaning.

In Bleigum the material must not only meet European directive 2014/34/EU (= ATEX114) in Belgium, but must also comply with the General Regulation for Electrical Installations (Dutch: AREI). Of course, less strict or stricter requirements can apply in other countries.

Only the following lighting devices may be used in enclosed areas:

  • Flashlights and hand lamps powered by (rechargeable) batteries of the correct category and/or Energy Performance on Location (EPL)
  • Compressed-air driven lighting devices of the correct category and/or EPL
  • Portable lamps and lighting devices using Extra Low Safety Voltage (Dutch: ZLVS) of the correct category and/or EPL
ZLVS = 12VAC, 18VDC with ripple and 30VDC without ripple

Within this third group, we can now propose a 12VAC portable LED work light, the PLXS3-12220Z000:

  • Suitable for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22
  • 30W LED, 4000 Lumen
  • 20m (= max.) cable H07RN-F 2x2.5mm²
  • Robust, only 1.8kg
  • Polycarbonate tube and end parts
  • From -20°C to +55°C
